Black Stools

So you just found a gorgeous set of black stools at a furniture store or yard sale and you’re in love with them but you don’t know how exactly to decorate your room around it. Whether it is a kitchen, bar area, or even a living room, it is important to keep certain design features in mind when decorating an entire room around a set of stools. These features include choosing complimenting colors, avoiding all black, and considering function as well as style.

Choose colors that go well with your black stools for anything from stool cushions to plating and drink glass colors. Using complimentary colors will bring out the color and beauty of your stools much better than if you use colors that don’t go well with them. Luckily, with black stools there really isn’t much of a way to go wrong. Almost any color compliments black, so there’s really almost countless numbers of shades and hues you may choose for your décor that will help your beautiful stools stand out against them.

There is of course one color that you will never want to go overboard with while decorating around your black stools, and that is black. Make sure to keep only a few beautiful, carefully chosen accents in black and use your complimentary colors for everything else. This really makes the black stand out and keeps the room from feeling much too dark or even dreary. No room can handle too much black, and it is definitely something to keep in mind.

As always when decorating any room considering the function of everything you use is important. Don’t use place those gorgeous stools somewhere where they can’t be easily accessed and used. When decorating around them, try to think of a function for every accent piece. A black porcelain vase may look beautiful, but if you can’t think of another use for it, it may be better for the whole room to find an accent piece that has a more functional use rather than just aesthetic. The trick is finding the perfect balance of functional pieces in accent colors to best compliment your black stools.
